The Department of Orthopaedics at Government Theni Medical College was established in 2004 with the mission of providing excellence in Orthopaedic care, education, and research. Over the years, it has grown into leading centre for orthopaedic training and treatment offering advanced facilities for trauma management, joint replacement, spine surgery.

Initially, starting with a small team, the department has expanded with the addition of highly qualified faculty, state-of-the-art operation theatres, and modern rehabilitation units. With a focus on patient centered care, the department has been at the forefront of treating complex fractures, musculoskeletal disorders and congenital deformities.

In alignment with advancements in orthopaedic medicine, the department introduced postgraduate training programmes in 2021, further strengthening its academic and research contributions.
